Controllers

The speed controller is crucial to the efficiency and smooth operation of the electric car. Curtis/PMC was the first company to bring the resources of large scale manufacturing to controllers for road-going conversions, and they are still the largest manufacturer in the market. With the thousands of controllers they produce for vehicle manufacturers, from handicapped carts to delivery trucks, they are able to perfect the controller technology and the manufacturing process. This ensures consistent quality, performance, and factory support.

There are two models that are appropriate for road-going conversions. These are rated for the voltage and amperage ranges specifically suited to typical daily driving, to provide a balance of performance and range.

The units are compact, easy to install, and completely sealed and weather-proofed. They require no additional cooling beyond normal airflow. These controllers heatsink through their base.

They are designed to be used in conjunction with the Curtis/PMC PB-6 potbox. When properly wired with the potbox, they provide many built-in safety features, including:

Deadman switch emergency disconnect
High pedal lockout to prevent unintentional acceleration
Current limit and high temperature cutback to protect circuits
